Helping You Build Confidence, Connection, and Clarity

Starting counseling can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, identity questions, or challenges with self-esteem, therapy can be a space where you begin to feel more grounded and supported.

I’m Jessica Sawyer, a practicum intern at Omni Mental Health. I offer counseling to adults, including young adults and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, with sessions available both in person (Rochester and St. Paul) and virtually. My goal is to make the counseling process approachable, comfortable, and empowering for every client I work with.

Why Work With Me

I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you uncover strengths, build confidence, and develop tools that fit your unique goals.

I especially enjoy working with adults who are navigating life transitions, exploring their identities, or looking to improve their self-esteem. Many of my clients come to me seeking support for anxiety, depression, or simply a safe place to process their experiences and move forward.

As a practicum intern, I bring energy, curiosity, and an openness to learning. I’m also supported by experienced supervisors and a team of licensed clinicians, ensuring that you receive high-quality care.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is client-centered, meaning you set the direction for your sessions. I combine this with evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to create a flexible and supportive process.

Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, explore what’s most important to you, and build practical skills that help you move toward your personal growth goals.

Addressing Common Concerns

It’s natural to feel nervous about beginning therapy. My hope is to create a space where you feel comfortable and respected from the very first session. You won’t be expected to have everything figured out—we’ll move at a pace that works for you.

As a practicum intern, I receive ongoing support and supervision to ensure that you’re receiving thoughtful, intentional care. Confidentiality is also central to the counseling process, with a few safety-related exceptions that I’ll explain upfront.

A Bit About Me

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my plants, reading, baking, practicing yoga, and getting outdoors to hike and walk. These hobbies bring me balance and joy, and they remind me of the importance of self-care—something I encourage my clients to nurture in their own lives as well.

Let’s Work Together

If you’re ready to begin your counseling journey, I’d be honored to support you. I currently offer in-person sessions at Omni Mental Health’s Rochester location, as well as virtual sessions for added flexibility.

Please reach out if you’d like to learn more, ask questions, or see if working together feels like the right fit.
