Meeting You Where You Are, So We Can Support Where You’re Going
Life can feel heavy when emotions become hard to manage, stress starts to build, or you’re unsure how to support yourself or your child through difficult moments. You may be noticing increased anxiety, low mood, challenges with communication, or struggles with emotional regulation that feel overwhelming or confusing. Sometimes, simply knowing where to start can feel like the hardest part.
You don’t have to figure it out alone. I’m Mai Vang, a prelicensed practitioner based in Blaine, and I work with children, teens, and adults who are seeking support, understanding, and healthier ways to cope. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected—meeting you where you are while supporting growth, self-advocacy, and healing at your own pace.
Why Work With Me
Working with me means having support that feels welcoming, understanding, and focused on what matters most to you. Whether you’re looking for help for yourself, your child, or someone you care about, I work to create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves and sharing honestly. Together, we focus on building coping skills, understanding emotions, and learning how to speak up for your needs, so challenges feel more manageable and progress feels possible both in and outside of therapy.
My Therapy Approach
My approach to therapy is supportive, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s needs. I focus on creating a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and talking openly about what’s going on. In sessions, we may work on understanding emotions, practicing coping skills for stress or anxiety, improving communication, or learning healthier ways to manage difficult thoughts and behaviors.
I use a person-centered approach along with tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. For children and teens, this often means breaking things down in a way that feels clear and manageable. For adults and caregivers, it means working together to better understand patterns and build skills that can be used outside of therapy. My goal is to help clients feel more confident, supported, and capable as they move forward.
Addressing Common Concerns
Starting therapy can come with a lot of questions and mixed emotions. You might wonder if what you or your child are experiencing is “normal,” feel unsure how to explain what’s been going on, or worry about opening up to someone new. These feelings are common, and you don’t need to have all the answers before reaching out for support.
I work with clients and families who are navigating concerns such as:
Anxiety, chronic worry, and panic symptoms
Depression, low mood, and emotional withdrawal
Difficulty managing emotions and emotional regulation
Self-harm behaviors and safety concerns
Stress related to school, family dynamics, or life transitions
Communication challenges and difficulty expressing feelings
Developing healthy coping skills for stress and anxiety
Impulse control and emotional outbursts
Building self-esteem, confidence, and self-advocacy
If you or your child have had past experiences where it felt hard to open up or feel understood, therapy can still be a place to start again. My role is to offer support that feels patient, collaborative, and respectful—working alongside clients and families to better understand what’s going on and build skills that support long-term growth and emotional well-being.
A Bit More About Me
Outside of therapy, a big part of who I am is being a wife and a mother. I value spending quality time with my family and enjoy being outdoors, especially going on nature walks. I also appreciate slower days at home—watching a movie or two, enjoying family game nights, and sharing simple moments together. While I enjoy a relaxed pace, I can be surprisingly competitive when it comes to games, which often brings plenty of laughter into our home.
I believe these moments of connection, balance, and presence play an important role in well-being, and they often inform the way I show up in the therapy space with warmth, patience, and understanding.
Let’s Work Together
If you’re considering therapy for yourself, your child, or someone you care about, I’d be honored to support you. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Together, we can work at a pace that feels comfortable while building skills, understanding, and support that align with your goals.
Whether you’re seeking help with emotional regulation, anxiety, or navigating life’s challenges, I’m here to offer a space that feels safe, collaborative, and encouraging. When you’re ready, I invite you to reach out and take the next step toward support and growth.
