Finding Strength in Life’s Messy Moments
Life can feel like too much sometimes. Anxiety, depression, conflict, and constant stress can leave you exhausted and unsure of what to do next. I work with pre-teens, teens, adults, and LGBTQ+ clients who are trying to make sense of their experiences and feel more in control of their lives.
I’m Shawna Neumann, a prelicensed practitioner. I help clients build self-awareness, emotional steadiness, and coping skills that actually stick. You deserve support that meets you where you are and helps you move toward a version of life that feels more manageable, more authentic, and more your own.
Why Work With Me
I became a therapist after experiencing how life-changing the right therapeutic relationship can be. What I offer is a space that adapts to you, one where we can explore what’s meaningful without pressure to show up a certain way. Clients often say they appreciate my ability to keep things grounded, honest, and gently humorous. I don’t come in with a rigid agenda. I show up ready to listen, adjust, and build something real with you.
My Therapy Approach
Sessions tend to flow based on what you need. Sometimes that means talking through a current struggle. Other times, we might work on integrating tools or making sense of patterns that keep showing up. I bring structure when it’s helpful and flexibility when it’s needed.
Here’s what our work may include:
Checking in on what’s present or unresolved
Exploring emotions, experiences, or decisions
Reflecting on tools or strategies from previous sessions
Introducing new ways to respond to stress, thoughts, or habits
My approach blends:
CBT for shifting unhelpful thought patterns
DBT skills for emotional regulation and distress tolerance
Mindfulness for developing greater awareness and compassion
Nervous system regulation to support a calmer, more connected state
This blend allows us to work on both the internal and external pieces—understanding how you operate, while also developing coping skills that feel realistic and sustainable.
Addressing Common Concerns
I support clients navigating a wide range of personal, relational, and emotional challenges. If you're facing any of the following, we can work together to sort through it:
Anxiety and ongoing worry
Depression and loss of motivation
Trauma and PTSD
Life transitions or uncertainty about what’s next
Chronic stress or emotional overload
Self-doubt and low self-worth
Communication difficulties or conflict
Struggles tied to chronic illness
Women's issues and identity shifts
LGBTQ+ related experiences
If you’re feeling pulled in too many directions or like you’ve been trying to hold it all together on your own, therapy can offer a place to pause, reflect, and find a way forward that feels more manageable.
A Bit About Me
Outside of therapy, I’m a new mom adjusting to life with my first child. Most of my time is spent caring for my son, spending time with my family and pets, and finding small creative moments in between. I enjoy baking, doing arts and crafts, and winding down with a good movie or a date night with my husband.
These parts of my life keep me grounded and remind me how important it is to care for ourselves in ways that feel meaningful. I bring that same perspective into my work—practical, patient, and always human.
Let’s Work Together
If you’re ready to start therapy or just curious about what it might be like, I’d be glad to connect. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just a willingness to begin. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions from Blaine, Minnesota.
