Feel More Present and Connected in Your Life and Relationships

If you’ve found yourself stuck in familiar emotional patterns, disconnected from your partner, or overwhelmed by the pace of life, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Therapy is a space to pause, breathe, and begin reconnecting with yourself and the relationships that matter most.

I’m Emily Hierlinger, a pre-licensed therapist offering in-person and virtual counseling for adults and couples in Blaine, MN. I create a calm, grounded space where you can explore what’s happening internally, gain clarity, and move toward lasting, meaningful change. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, or relationship stress, my goal is to help you feel more confident and present in your life.

Why Work With Me

I work with people who want to show up more fully in their lives and relationships. Many of my clients are managing anxiety, trauma, or adjusting to life transitions. Others are navigating communication issues, healing after infidelity, or seeking support in nontraditional relationship structures.

What often draws people to this work—and to me—is my blend of warmth and curiosity. I ask thoughtful questions that invite reflection and help uncover the patterns that may be holding you back. My approach isn’t about fixing you—it’s about helping you better understand yourself, your story, and your strengths.

I became a therapist because I believe in the power of reflection, hope, and change. Our relationships shape us in both visible and subtle ways, and therapy gives us a chance to understand what we’ve carried—and choose what we want to carry forward.

My Approach to Therapy

In our work together, I’ll follow your lead while offering structure and guidance to help you move toward the goals that matter most to you. Our sessions are a balance of open exploration and intentional direction.

I draw from evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Brainspotting, the Gottman Method, and strengths-based work. Whether we’re reframing a difficult memory, identifying unhelpful thought patterns, or building new tools for connection, I’ll offer resources and reflections to support your growth—inside and outside the therapy room.

I also provide psychoeducation to help you understand your emotional responses and offer space to re-narrate your past in a way that feels more aligned with who you are now. The result is often greater clarity, resilience, and a renewed sense of self.

Addressing Common Concerns

It’s completely normal to feel hesitant about starting therapy. My role is to support you through that process—gently and at your pace. Here are some of the issues I often help clients work through:

  • Feeling emotionally disconnected in your life or relationships

  • Struggling with anxiety, overthinking, or burnout

  • Life transitions or major adjustments

  • Trauma and unresolved past experiences

  • ADHD or navigating life as a neurodivergent adult

  • Relationship stress, including infidelity and communication challenges

  • Exploring ethical non-monogamy or alternative relationship dynamics

  • Building emotional safety and connection with your partner

  • Reconnecting with your own values and identity

A Bit About Me

Outside of therapy, I’m adjusting to life as a new parent—an experience that’s brought both joy and growth. I love being outdoors, reading, playing video games, and finding unexpected treasures while thrift shopping. I’ve always been someone who values structure and planning, but I also know the importance of rest, flexibility, and unstructured time. That balance shapes not only how I live, but also how I work as a therapist.

Let’s Work Together

If you’re ready to feel more grounded, connected, and supported, I’d be glad to work with you. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions for adults and couples in Blaine, MN.
