Helping You Reclaim Your Voice and Sense of Self

For many of the people I work with, life has felt like a long fight to simply exist as they are. If you’ve spent years feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or unseen in traditional mental health spaces, you're not alone, and you're not broken.

I’m Joe Reed, a pre-licensed therapist based in Blaine, MN. I work with adults, teens, and queer individuals who often feel overlooked or misunderstood in traditional therapy spaces. Many of my clients are living with the weight of complex trauma, navigating neurodivergence, or working through the impact of personality disorders.

If that sounds like you, I want you to know: there’s nothing wrong with how you’ve learned to survive.

Why Work With Me

Over the past decade, I’ve worked in a variety of clinical settings—from in-home support to day treatment, outpatient, and telehealth. Through that experience, I’ve learned how many people—especially those in marginalized communities—have felt alienated or misdiagnosed by systems that were never designed with them in mind.

I became a therapist not only to heal my own trauma but to help others rebuild their capacity for connection, self-trust, and meaningful community. I believe therapy should restore your ability to choose what’s best for you—not pressure you to become someone else.

If you’ve struggled to feel understood, I want to meet you where you are—with respect, curiosity, and care that’s grounded in lived experience.

What Therapy Looks Like With Me

In our work together, we’ll explore the patterns and survival strategies you’ve developed—without judgment. These strategies made sense at one point in your life, and they’ve likely helped you endure a lot. But they may also be keeping you stuck or disconnected from who you want to become.

I use the Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM), an approach that helps us understand how early experiences shape our identity and relationships. This kind of therapy gently brings attention to your body, your emotions, and your internal narratives so you can begin to feel more aligned, more connected, and more like yourself.

During our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and clarifying what you want from therapy so you feel empowered in the process.

Together, we’ll build a space where you can develop empathy for yourself, feel more in control of your choices, and begin moving toward the version of yourself you want to be.

Addressing Common Concerns

Therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never felt fully seen or understood in past experiences. My goal is to create a space that feels grounded, respectful, and safe—where you can move at your own pace.

I work with clients navigating:

  • Complex trauma

  • Personality disorders

  • Queer identity and related stress

  • Neurodivergence

  • Chronic feelings of disconnection or self-doubt

We'll begin by building trust and clarifying what matters most to you—so therapy feels supportive, not overwhelming.

A Bit More About Me

Outside of the therapy room, I’m part of a number of vibrant subcultures—queer community, music, dance, and art. These experiences have deeply shaped how I see the world and how I connect with others.

I also identify as non-binary, which brings an added layer of insight into the challenges and strengths that come with moving through life in nontraditional ways. My hope is that all parts of you feel welcome in our work together.

Let’s Work Together

If you're looking for a therapist who honors your full story and helps you reconnect with your own sense of power, I’d be honored to work with you.

Let’s begin when you’re ready. Reach out today to schedule your first appointment.
