Finding the Right Support Can Be Life-Changing
You might be carrying more than you let on—anxiety, sadness, being overwhelmed, or the quiet weight of a past that still echoes in your present. You might be navigating parenting challenges, trying to reconnect with yourself, or just hoping for someone to finally understand what you're feeling.
I’m Mary Muske, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in St. Paul, MN. I work with individuals, families, and people of all ages—from kids to adults—who are ready for something to shift. Whether you’re a parent looking for support, a teen trying to find your place, or an adult unpacking the layers of your past, I offer a space where you can feel safe, seen, and supported.
Why Work With Me
Many of the people I work with are carrying invisible burdens—trauma that lingers, anxiety that’s hard to explain, or sadness that feels like it’s always been there. Some are navigating the complexities of adoption, parenting, or generational trauma. Others are struggling with boundaries, attachment, or figuring out who they are in the midst of it all.
I often work with young women, moms, teens, children, and families—but no matter your age or stage in life, I focus on helping you understand yourself with more compassion and less judgment.
Clients often come to me seeking relief, but what we build together goes deeper than that. It’s about gaining insight into how your past has shaped you and learning how to move forward with more clarity, confidence, and self-kindness.
My Approach to Therapy
My work begins with connection. Before anything else, I focus on building a relationship where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. Once that foundation is in place, we explore your life experiences, current challenges, and what you’d like to change.
I use a blend of approaches, like person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques. For children, I also incorporate play therapy. Each session is shaped around your needs, with the goal of helping you build insight, regulate emotions, and grow more confident in who you are.
Therapy with me is collaborative, gentle, and centered on what matters most to you.
Addressing Common Questions and Concerns
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. You might wonder what to expect, how much to share, or if your challenges are “big enough” to talk about. Many of the people I work with come in feeling unsure, but they leave feeling heard, supported, and more grounded.
Here are some of the concerns I commonly help with:
Anxiety and chronic worry
Depression and low self-esteem
Trauma and PTSD
Parenting stress and family dynamics
Postpartum depression
Attachment and boundary issues
Adoption and permanency
ADHD in children and adults
Relationship and communication struggles
Generational trauma
We’ll move at your pace. I’ll meet you with care, curiosity, and confidentiality—always working to create a space where you feel safe being yourself.
A Bit About Me
Outside therapy, I find joy in simple things—like hiking, spending time outdoors, and having deep, meaningful conversations. Moving my body helps me stay grounded, and animals have always held a special place in my heart.
I’m also a proud cat mom to three very loved cats. They remind me daily of the importance of curiosity, comfort, and connection.
