Supporting Emotional Wellness Across Every Stage of Life
Life can feel overwhelming—especially when you or your child are struggling to manage emotions, navigate relationships, or simply make it through the day.
I'm Meg Schmitt, a pre-licensed therapist offering individual and family counseling for children, teens, and adults in St. Paul and Blaine, MN. My goal is to meet you where you are—with empathy, insight, and practical tools to help you and your family build a more connected and fulfilling life.
Whether it’s a child facing big feelings, a teen trying to navigate friendships and self-worth, or an adult feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them—I’m here to help.
Why Work With Me
I approach therapy with the belief that each person’s story, values, and experiences matter. My goal is to create a space where children, teens, and adults feel supported, understood, and empowered to make lasting change.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over five years in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), working with young children diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. That experience deepened my commitment to helping clients grow by looking beyond behavior to the emotional and relational challenges underneath.
I offer practical tools, genuine care, and a personalized approach to support you in building confidence, connection, and emotional resilience.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapy style is flexible, supportive, and tailored to each client’s needs. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients manage emotions, improve relationships, and build healthier thought patterns.
When working with children, I often incorporate play therapy and behavioral strategies to support emotional development and skill-building in a way that makes sense for their age. Sessions are client-led, and my role is to meet you where you are—creating a space that’s consistent, nonjudgmental, and focused on what matters most to you.
Addressing Common Concerns
It’s normal to feel unsure about starting therapy. You might worry about what to expect, how much to share, or whether your concerns are “serious enough.” Whatever you're carrying, you're welcome here.
Here are some of the challenges I can help with:
Anxiety and stress
Depression and low self-esteem
Emotion regulation
Parenting and family dynamics
School and peer challenges
ADHD and Autism Spectrum-related concerns
Trauma and life transitions
Therapy with me is confidential, supportive, and focused on helping you or your child feel seen, heard, and capable of making meaningful progress.
A Bit About Me
Outside of the therapy room, I’m someone who values connection, curiosity, and care—both in my work and in life. I have a 9-year-old rescue dog named Daisy who’s been with me since my first year of undergrad. I’m also a proud godparent to five wonderful kids who bring a lot of joy (and fun chaos) to my life.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, tending to my houseplants, and exploring new local shops and coffee spots. Spending time outdoors and being with friends and family helps keep me grounded—and I bring that same balance and authenticity into the work I do with clients.
Let’s Work Together
Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child, or your family, I’m here to help you take that next step with care and intention. I offer in-person therapy in St. Paul and Blaine, as well as virtual sessions for clients ages 16 and up.
If you’re ready to begin—or even just curious about what therapy might look like—reach out today. Together, we can create a space where growth feels possible and healing can begin.
