Counseling Tailored for Lasting Change

Whether you're facing anxiety, dealing with relationship conflicts, or navigating a challenging transition, counseling can offer the clarity and support you need.

I'm Sophie Bergquist, a pre-licensed practitioner at Omni Mental Health in Blaine, MN. I offer both in-person and virtual counseling sessions tailored for individuals, couples, and families who are ready to move forward toward healthier relationships and greater emotional well-being.

I specialize in helping clients improve communication, strengthen relationships, and develop resilience to overcome life's obstacles. Through compassionate and collaborative therapy, I guide you toward greater emotional balance, healthier connections, and enhanced life satisfaction.

Why Work With Me?

I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely comfortable and supported. As your counselor, I bring a relaxed, easy-going style that prioritizes connection, humor, and understanding. My passion is meeting you exactly where you are and helping you find practical pathways to reach your goals.

Having worked extensively with teens, adults, couples, and families, I’ve seen firsthand how improved communication and intentional strategies can transform relationships and lives. Together, we'll focus on reducing symptoms of anxiety or depression, enhancing your interpersonal skills, and building resilience to handle life's inevitable challenges.

My Therapy Approach

Because every person and situation is unique, I draw from multiple therapy approaches to best meet your individual needs. My primary methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Gottman Method techniques for couples counseling. I also incorporate tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), tailoring my approach specifically to your goals.

Our sessions will begin with checking in on your progress since our last meeting, identifying specific focus areas, and evaluating strategies we've previously discussed. My goal is to equip you with practical tools, clear strategies, and actionable steps that empower you to create meaningful changes in your life and relationships.

When we first meet, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, set realistic expectations, and address any questions you might have. I’m here to listen without judgment and to ensure that our sessions move at a pace that feels comfortable and effective for you.

Addressing Common Concerns

It's completely natural to have questions or concerns about starting therapy. Confidentiality, privacy, and comfort are central to my practice—I take your trust seriously and create an atmosphere where openness feels safe and natural.

I can help you overcome the following:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Symptoms of depression or low mood

  • Conflict or disconnection in relationships

  • Communication challenges with partners or family

  • Life transitions or identity shifts

  • Difficulty maintaining self-care or balance

  • Feeling stuck, unmotivated, or emotionally drained

A Bit About Me

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending my time outdoors—whether that's relaxing by the water during the summer or hitting the slopes skiing in winter. I live with my husband and our two cats, who keep our home lively and entertaining.

My path to counseling wasn't straightforward; initially, I explored careers in education, travel, and even business. But I always felt a strong pull toward helping others navigate life's challenges. This journey has shaped how I connect with my clients today—relatable, authentic, and deeply committed to supporting your growth.
