Guiding You Toward More Satisfying Relationships
Relational struggles can feel overwhelming, especially when disconnection, uncertainty, or long-standing patterns keep showing up in the relationships that matter most. I'm here to help you shift the narrative.
I’m Steven Freund, a pre-licensed therapist offering virtual counseling throughout Minnesota. I work with adults and couples—whether that’s two partners or a multi-person relationship structure—who are looking to reconnect, improve communication, and build something more meaningful.
Together, we’ll take a closer look at the stories you’ve been living by and begin shaping new ways of relating with yourself and others.
Why Work With Me
You deserve a therapist who brings more than just textbook knowledge—you deserve someone who’s lived, reflected, and continues to grow.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent decades as an educator, coach, and community builder. My work has always centered around helping people find clarity, direction, and deeper meaning in their lives. I’ve been formally studying relationships since 2005 and working in clinical settings since 2020, but my education began long before that, shaped by my own real-world experiences.
I know what it’s like to seek connection, stumble, rebuild, and learn again. That personal journey, along with my clinical training, is what fuels my commitment to supporting others. If you’re facing dissatisfaction in your relationships—or within yourself—I’m here to help you explore why and how things can shift for the better.
Clients often describe me as knowledgeable, grounded, and easy to talk to. My goal is to help you move toward greater satisfaction in life, one conversation at a time.
How Therapy With Me Works
Every session begins with understanding the story you’re living by—and whether it’s still working for you.
My approach is rooted in neuro-narrative and pragmatic experiential therapy, supported by research and tailored to you. We’ll explore the patterns shaping your relationships, then use psychoeducation and practical tools to help you reframe and revise your personal narrative.
This process isn’t about blame—it’s about clarity, growth, and creating the kind of life and connection you want moving forward.
Common Concerns and What to Expect
Many clients come to me feeling disconnected—whether from their partner, themselves, or the life they imagined.
You may be struggling with communication, navigating conflict, or unsure about staying in a relationship. Perhaps you’re part of a nontraditional relationship and need support that respects your experience. Whatever brings you here, therapy provides a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what’s happening—without judgment or pressure.
Therapy with me is about creating space for insight, growth, and meaningful change.
Clients often leave our work with greater clarity in their relationships, stronger communication skills, and a deeper sense of self. My role is to support—not direct—your process, offering tools and reflections that help you shape the outcomes you’re seeking. You can expect honesty, curiosity, and a therapist who takes your story seriously.
A Bit About Me
I’m a lifelong learner with a passion for art, nature, and connection.
Outside of therapy, I’m a visual artist, gardener, and naturalist. My experiences—through four marriages, teaching, and community-building—have shaped my understanding of relationships. This broad perspective helps me relate to clients and bring empathy and insight into our work together.
